St. Felix Food Pantry in NM

Be it further resolved that February 21, 2013 be proclaimed St. Felix Pantry Day in the Senate

Picture133Unlike any other day, Thursday, February 21, was a very special day for St. Felix Pantry, a Felician-sponsored ministry in Rio Rancho, NM.

On that day, the New Mexico State Legislature recognized the Pantry for the contributions it makes to people in need by providing food, clothing, household items and referral services free of charge to many New Mexicans.

“This day was truly amazing for the Felician Sisters in Rio Rancho, the Pantry, its staff and all of the volunteers who give so much of their time to help ensure that New Mexico’s poor are cared for,” said Manuel Casias, vice president of development for St. Felix Pantry.

This incredible Senate Memorial proclaimed February 21, 2013, to be “St. Felix Pantry Day.” Introduced by Sen. Jacob Candelaria (D), representing New Mexico’s 26th District, the final Senate vote on the Memorial was 43-0. Candelaria is a proud graduate of St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque where S Rena Marie Romero currently ministers as a teacher of theology.

Donna Glover, a Pantry Board member said, “This honor and blessing will be something St. Felix Pantry will always be proud of.”

The Pantry will celebrate 20 years of service on Saturday, April 27.
