Felician Center ART BUILDING

We are coming to the completion of the new addition. It looks like it was always there. The room is very bright, spacious and beautiful. We can’t wait for the kids to come back and see it. The room will be used as an Art center and multipurpose area for activities with the children. We are grateful to our many benefactors for helping to make this possible.  Visit their website:Felician Center, SC

Under the direction of Dr. Gaye Douglas, Assistant Professor of Nursing at Francis Marion University, we were blessed with 13 Senior II nursing students who prepared and served the Blessed Angela Meal at our Center. The students did an excellent job with the preparation of the meal and served with generous and compassionate hearts. Thank you Dr. Gaye and the students. I know they will be nurses with generous hearts and respect for the dignity of each person in their care. God bless you all!

US District Court Judge Dolly Gee recently issued a significant ruling towards ending the inhumane practice of detaining vulnerable children and their mothers. The court ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to release children apprehended at the border with a parent “without unnecessary delay.” Furthermore, the ruling states that children and mothers must be released in a safe manner and it directs DHS to improve the conditions and treatment of children in Customs and Border Protection facilities. DHS has until October 23, 2015 to comply.

Judge Gee’s ruling brings us one step closer to ending family detention by forbidding DHS from using prison-like facilities to hold children.   As we continue our work to end the inhumane practice of detaining mothers and children, please call upon the Obama Administration to refrain from appealing the Judge’s decision and to immediately comply with it.
