Felician Sisters serving at the parish.

TCCCChe St. Anne’s Society of St. Turibius Parish in Chicago, IL, hosted its annual St. Joseph/St. Patrick Dinner Dance on Saturday, March 3. The dinner is the principal fundraiser for the St. Anne’s Society,a group founded in the parish to support the Felician Sisters serving at the parish.

This year’s dinner dance was particularly meaningful because it celebrated the 90th Anniversary of the presence of the Felician Sisters at St. Turibius. Felician Sisters currently residing at St. Turibius are S Mary Beth Bromer, SM Francine Lagocki, SM Eunice Olbrantz, SM Barbara Ann Bosch, SM Eliana Remiszewska, and S Heather Marie Deneen.

SM Ursula Myszka, SM Theophilia Tworzydlo, SM Corinne Wrobel, and SM Leanne Hartmann, a daughter of St. Turibius Parish, joined the sisters for the celebration. Also present were S Ann Nguyen, O.P., an international sister student who resides with the Felician Sisters at St. Turibius, Candidate Barbara Althaus, and Inquirer Katie Rotterman.

Attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner menu consisting of traditional Polish, Irish, and American foods. A special feature this year was a sweets table with an abundance of homemade items prepared by both the women of the parish and the sisters as well.

Eddie Korosa, Jr., “the Boy from Illinois,” provided the evening entertainment of upbeat polka music. According to Sister Heather, the St. Turibius Confirmation students assisted with decorations, set-up, and also helped with table service to guests who needed assistance. She said, “They did a marvelous job!”

In commemoration of the 90th Anniversary of the continual presence of the Felician Sisters at St. Turibius, each guest received a holy card with a picture of the original five sisters who came to St. Turibius in 1928 and a picture of the current Felician Sisters at the parish. Printed on the back of this holy card is a Prayer for Vocations, an encouragement to guests to pray for vocations to the Felician Sisters.

Sister Heather said, “Overall, this St. Joseph/St. Patrick event was a great success and fun for all in attendance.”
