>The United Nations has designated September 21 as the International Day of Peace. So, it seems fitting that the Montessori Center of Our Lady, in Livonia, MI, chose this day to dedicate its peace pole, a gift from alumnus James O’Neil, Class of 2008.
Nearly 150 people attended the blessing and dedication ceremony including sisters from Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Convent in Livonia, Montessori team members, students, parents, grandparents and friends.
Mission Leader SM Juanita Szymanski, CSSF began the ceremony by reading scripture passages proclaiming the Good News of love and peace. Father Joseph Romano presided over the ceremony, blessing the peace pole and praying for all nations, leaders and mankind to be united in justice and peace.
The Montessori Center of Our Lady students closed the ceremony by joining their voices in song with “Light a Candle for Peace” by Shelly Murley.
Speaking for the school, Gail C. Jones, marketing and operations manager said, “Montessori Center of Our Lady is very grateful for this beautiful limestone peace pole which will not only serve as symbol of peace but as a simple prayer ‘May Peace Prevail on Earth!’ Amen.”
